Step back in time and uncover the many hidden secrets of Theatre Royal’s fascinating past. Using prompts from the theatre’s archives including rare photographs, intriguing news reports and vintage materials, you’ll have all the inspiration you need to create your very own mystery story set against the backdrop of one of Portsmouth’s historical landmarks.
Guided by local authors Jackie Green and Christine Lawrence, this hands-on creative writing workshop will help you bring your story to life. From creating exciting twists and turns in the plot, to the character development of heroes, villains and victims, you’ll learn what creates an exciting mystery and learn valuable storytelling skills.
No prior writing experience is needed, just a curiosity for a good mystery story. You’ll write, share ideas, and get feedback from professionals in this relaxed and friendly workshop.
All the proceeds from this workshop will go towards a fund raiser for “Showbait 2026”.
Crowbait UK is a community group that supports local actors and writers, offering courses and crucial opportunities to stage new plays from new writers.
